Pictured to the left is a copy of a version of the Holy Bible, known as the MODERN ENGLISH VERSION ( MEV ). Daniel 4:2, 17 read as follows:
"2 I thought it good to declare the signs and wonders that the Most High God has done for me. 17 'This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones, in order that the living may know that the Most High rules over the kingdom of men and gives it to whomever He wills and sets up over it the basest of men.'"
The lesson of Daniel, chapter four, is one whereby we must learn that the heavenly Father ( see Matthew 5:9, 16: 6:9, 14, for example ) "rules over the kingdom of men and gives it to whomever He chooses" ( see verse twenty-five, and please read all of chapter four to get the immediate context ), just as Nebuchadnezzar the king ( see verse one ) had to.
The American intelligence community often uses the phrase "connecting the dots" in reference to their activities. Little children use crayons to connect the dots on the pages of children's coloring books. It is imperative that we be mature and understand Who rules in this universe: He has commanded it of us ( see Ecclesiastes 12:13, Romans 15:1-4 ( especially verse 4, for example ), and 1 Corinthians 14:20, for example ).
